She is the author and presenter of radio documentaries, including I'm Doing It For Me, an exploration of the reasons underlying the desire for plastic surgery, and What Is A Wife? for Radio 4. Geraldine wrote a memoir about family and architecture, The Handmade House, (Penguin, 2005), and is the author of several novels, most recently The Gulf Between Us (Penguin, 2009), a story about prejudice, set in the Arabian Gulf. She co-edited The New Old Age for NESTA, and wrote the Make Poverty History Handbook. She is getting older.

    This is a truly joyous story! What stikes me about Pamela and her work is the sheer power of music, and of simply engaging with other people, to transcend generations, cultures, languages and capabilities … and, with a following wind, continents too.

    I agree with Kevin. We see in Almere the power of singing and I would add ” moving”. The elderly are using not only there voice but all the muscles. They can’t stay still while they are singing. So exersise as well. We make a video of all there efforts, including the trials. So they can enjoy and share the experience also at home.
